SHA-1 is a legacy hash. Do not use it to store passwords, create new digital signatures, or perform new security-sensitive integrity checks. Use this generator when you need compatibility with an existing SHA-1 value. For new cryptographic hashing, choose an appropriate SHA-2 or SHA-3 algorithm. Password storage requires a dedicated password-hashing algorithm.
